A pub beer garden in Somerset has been named as the best in Britain
The Rising Sun in Pensford, a short drive from the city, was originally nominated when the competition was launched by radio station Union JACK earlier this month, before going on to reach the final top 10.
The overall winner was decided by a public vote and more than 2,000 votes were cast in less than a week.
And The Rising Sun received almost a fifth of the share.
Owned by St Austell Brewery, the watering hole is loved for its idyllic setting, boasting a large riverside garden with views of Pensford Viaduct and the village's church.
Landlord Lisa Faulkner said: "Us as the Team Rising Sun feel honoured to be chosen as the winner, and thank everyone who took the time to vote for us.
"The garden itself is spoilt by the most amazing views and the backdrop of the viaduct and weir, currently serviced by an outdoor bar ensuring that all social distancing rules can be adhered to."
As well as receiving the title, The Rising Sun will also host a day of live radio broadcasts today (Tuesday, September 1), with Union JACK airing some of its flagship shows from the stunning garden.
This will include the popular 'Not-in-a-Pub Pub Quiz', hosted by none other than renowned TV quizzer Mark “The Beast” Labbett from ITV quiz show The Chase.
Giles Gear, Programme Manager of Union JACK radio, said: "I am over the moon for The Rising Sun. To be crowned Britain’s Best Beer Garden is a monumental achievement, especially given that this was the public’s decision.
"The competition was incredibly tight, particularly between the top three, so all of the shortlisted pubs should feel incredibly proud of themselves."
Union JACK radio is an independent, national radio station which launched in 2016 and broadcasts both music and comedy.
