Pub barman praised for going 'above and beyond' to help punter get home in rain

A barman named Frankie Sekal has been praised for his kind heart after he was filmed carrying out a gesture of goodwill to a customer.

Frankie – who works at The Pines in Dublin – was caught on video over the weekend carrying a table umbrella over the head of a wheelchair user who got caught in a torrential downpour while leaving the pub on Whitehall Road.

According to Dublin Live, Frankie was described by bosses as going "above and beyond" with one regular at the boozer describing him as a "proper gentleman".

The sweet video was posted on the pub’s Facebook page, and has become a viral hit with people praising the barman for his good deed.

The caption on the video reads: “Our Frankie going above and beyond.”

While one comment said: “Good man Frankie always said you were a gentleman.”

And another local wrote: “Well done Frankie, proves you're a true gentleman.”

Frankie has even taken to the Facebook post to thank those who have sent him “nice comments”, as he insisted he just wanted to “go the extra mile” to make the customer feel welcomed.

He said: “Thanks guys for nice comments. We go the extra mile for you guys to always feel welcomed.”

Frankie’s kind deed echoes a similar gesture made in May, when a van driver was filmed saving an elderly woman from getting drenched by using the mechanical loading platform on his vehicle as a stepping stone to help the woman get to her car and avoid a huge puddle.

The video was shared to Reddit page Made Me Smile with the caption: “Guys use a lift gate on a truck to help a senior get into her car without getting her feet wet.”

It racked up hundreds of comments, as one person said: "Love getting my faith in humanity restored."
