Pub and restaurant customers will have to check in under Government's new Covid-19 rules

Pub or restaurant customers will have to check in when they arrive under the Government's new Covid-19 rules.

The rules will change for all users of the NHS Test and Trace app from April 8.

People in a group will be required to check-in when entering a hospitality venue, rather than just one person, as was the rule under previous regulations.

The app will also require users who test positive to share their venue history in a "privacy-protecting way" via the program, the Government said.

It's understood the app will ask for the users consent before sharing the venue history - and the identity of the user will not be shared.

Those who have been at a venue on the same day as several others who have since tested positive for Covid-19 will receive an alert advising them to book a test immediately, regardless of whether they are showing symptoms.

The rules around using the app will change as lockdown restrictions continue to ease and lift, the Mirror reports.

April 12 will bring with it some big changes, as non essential retail reopens, alongside hospitality venues like pubs and bars and restaurants.

Hairdressers will also be able to reopen from that date, in the government's second step out of lockdown.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is poised to address the nation in a big update on Monday afternoon.

From 5pm on Monday the Prime Minister will unveils plans for summer holidays abroad and foreign travel, as well as the possibility of Covid vaccine passports and certification documents.
