Two large fuel traders, PTT Oil and Retail Business Plc (PTTOR) and Bangchak Corporation Plc, have agreed to reduce the premium diesel price by one baht per litre from Feb 6 to 28 at their petrol stations nationwide.
The move comes after Energy Minister Siri Jirapongphan talked about his goal on Monday of the ministry encouraging more usage of premium diesel because it meets the Euro 5 standard.
The retail price of premium diesel is 3.50 baht per litre more than for normal diesel.
The Euro 5 standard means a reduction in particles and emissions released by vehicles as the government works to ease the toxic soup of PM2.5 dust enveloping Bangkok and surrounding areas.
PTTOR will sell its premium diesel at 28.69 baht per litre, while Bangchak has a price of 28.96 baht per litre for the fuel.
Those final prices are for Bangkok and surrounding provinces, but upcountry provinces will include transport cost and local tax in the price.
Other fuel traders -- including Shell, Esso and Caltex -- are keeping their prices at 30.15 baht per litre for premium diesel, offering no discount.
