PSV 2 Tottenham 2: Hugo Lloris red card costs Spurs vital Champions League win

Tottenham's Champions League hopes hang by a thread after Hugo Lloris' red card allowed PSV Eindhoven to secure a 2-2 draw on Wednesday night.

PSV had opened the scoring against the run of play as Lozano took full advantage of a Toby Alderweireld slip to run through and beat Lloris.

But Spurs were the dominant side and Christian Eriksen, starting his first game in a month after injury, created the opening for Lucas Moura's equaliser before spotting Harry Kane's back-post run to put Spurs 2-1 ahead.

However, Spurs once again endured a disastrous finish to a Champions League game as Lloris was sent off for a challenge outside the box on Lozano, with Luuk De Jong poking a volley past substitute goalkeeper Michel Vorm for a point late on.

Spurs went behind in comical fashion as Toby Alderweireld lost possession to Lozano while trying to pass the ball back to Lloris: Aderweireld got back to make a tackle, but the ball looped over a helpless Lloris and into the goal to give the home side the lead.

Five minutes later the visitors were denied an equaliser when Davinson Sanchez's effort was ruled out.

Alderweireld's header was saved by PSV goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet and when Sanchez netted the rebound from close range his effort was chalked off because of a raised flag from the referee's assistant.
