PSNI West Belfast crash investigators call for witnesses and dashcam footage

Witnesses to a West Belfast road crash which left a pedestrian with serious injuries on Friday evening, have been urged to come forward.

The female was struck by a black Nissan Leaf at around 6.15pm on Stewartstown Road on Friday.

Emergency services attended the scene near the Suffolk Day Centre and the injured woman was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital.

Her condition has been described today as 'critical'.

The driver of the car, a 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily injury.

He has since been released on bail to return at a future date.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of the Stewartstown Road at around 6pm on Friday, June 5, and witnessed the collision.

Or from anyone who may have captured phone or dash-cam footage. Please call 101, quoting reference 1545 05/06/20.

The NIAS dispatched two emergency crews to the scene and the HEMS crew to the incident.
