PSNI update on traffic distruption across Northern Ireland

The police have issued an update regarding traffic disruption across Northern Ireland today.

Motorists have been advised that Kennedy Way, Belfast, has closed both lanes heading towards the Monagh-by-pass and been reduced to one lane heading towards Andersonstown Roundabout as a result of a tree falling.

Drivers are being advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.

In Co Derry, police have said they are expecting a significant volume of traffic in the town due to a parade, wedding and the funeral of Hugh Heaney.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police are antcipating a significant volume of traffic in Bellaghy due to a parade with a number of bands travelling to the area.

"We are also aware of a wedding taking place this afternoon and sadly the funeral of Hugh Heaney.

"Police will be present in Bellaghy to help facilitate these events.

"We will also have an evidence gathering operation in respect of the parade to ensure that it passes off peacefully and lawfully.

"However, we do expect and increased volume of motorists and pedestrians in the area today, so we would ask everyone to be patient while we manage traffic flow throughout the village.

"If you don't have to visit the village today and can avoid the area please do so to assist the local community and officers on duty."
