PSNI say body found during searches for missing man Jason Coles

Police have confirmed that the body of a male has been found during searches for missing man Jason Coles.

Mr Coles, from Cookstown, Co Tyrone was last seen on Tuesday, February 2 in the Seskinore area of Omagh at 2.45pm.

A widespread search operation has been ongoing for the last number of days with PSNI and family issuing a number of appeals for information on his whereabouts.

Officers did locate the 36-year-old's car in Seskinore Forest and urged locals to check their out houses and sheds as the search continued.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, PSNI Mid Ulster confirmed the news that a body of a man had been located.

Updating the public on social media they posted: "Thank you all for your assistance with the search for Jason. Sadly we have to update you that crews and teams conducting the searches have located the body of a male."

A PSNI spokesperson later said: "Police searching for missing person 36 year old Jason Coles recovered a body in the Seskinore Forest area of Omagh yesterday evening (Saturday 6 February).

"A post mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death. There are no further details at the time."

A family member also shared the sad news on Facebook saying: "We are beyond devastated. Thank you to everyone who helped in any way. This is not the outcome we had hoped for. May you now RIP Jason."
