PSNI 'reviewing evidence' after parade in West Belfast

Police say they will be reviewing evidence from a parade which took place on Sunday.

The parade happened in the Divis area of West Belfast earlier today and officers are believed to be using evidence to determine whether any offences were carried out.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "A notified parade in the Divis area of West Belfast took place earlier today, Sunday 30th May 2021, during which an evidence gathering operation was in place.

"Police will now review all evidence gathered and if any offences are detected, a police investigation will be carried out."

Meanwhile, a man is in hospital with a serious head injury after an attack in Glengormley on Saturday night.

Police are investigating reports that the 18-year-old was walking with two women on Farmley Road shortly after 8pm when he was set upon by an unknown man.

A PSNI spokesman said: "The male was punched and kicked in the face by the man ,who was with a female at the time of the incident. The male then made off towards Tramways following the assault. The man was taken to hospital and is being treated for a serious head injury.

"Enquiries are continuing and police would appeal to anyone who witnessed the assault or who has any information in relation to the incident, is asked to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference number 1858 29/05/21. "
