PSNI probe as man threatens householders with hatchet before making off with bag and tablets

An intruder threatened two householders with a hatchet before making off with a bag and tablets.

Police were called after a man broke into the home in the Lisnisky Walk area of Craigavon in the early hours of Thursday, July 11.

It is understood two people inside were threatened with a hatchet during the incident.

Detective Inspector McCamley said: "We received a report that a man had entered a house at around 5.15am this morning, 11 July.

"It’s reported that, when disturbed, he ran from the house taking a handbag and three tablets. During the incident, two householders were threatened with a hatchet, and while both were uninjured they were left badly shaken.

"I am appealing to anyone with information, or who noticed any suspicious activity in the area early this morning, to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 299 of 11/07/19."

Alternatively, information can be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
