PSNI officers escape injury after attack on routine patrol

Police officers have escaped injury after coming under attack whilst on a routine patrol in Co Tyrone.

The incident happened on Thursday night in the Ballygawley Road area of Dungannon.

Officers say a group of individuals threw 'bricks and other objects' at the patrol vehicle causing damage.

A spokesperson for PSNI Dungannon and South Tyrone said: "Our officers have just come under attack while out on routine patrol in the Ballygawley Road area of Dungannon.

"A group of individuals threw bricks and other objects at the patrol vehicle causing damage.

"At a time when social distancing and staying at home to save lives is critical to the community, this attack means the vehicle will be off the road for repairs and unable to respond to emergency incidents."
