PSNI officer 'kicked in the face' during incident at house

A PSNI officer was 'kicked in the face' during an incident at a house, police say.

Three other officers also attended the scene in Portadown on Friday, with one of them suffering a hand injury and a third being kicked in the chest, the PSNI added.

Chief Inspector Barney O'Connor said: "Police received a report in relation to an ongoing disturbance at a house on Tandragee Road in Portadown during the early hours of Friday 19th February.

"Officers responded to the report, made at around 5.20am, and attended the address.

"As officers dealt with the incident, one officer was kicked in the face while another sustained a hand injury.

"A third officer was kicked in the chest, while a fourth officer was kicked. Welfare support is being provided to the officers and the officers are expected to return to duty next week.

"A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of 14 offences, including six counts of assault on police and four counts of criminal damage and he remains in custody assisting with enquiries."
