"There are no further details."

It is understood that another area a short distance away from original scene has also been sealed off.

She said: “My thoughts are with the victim and his loved ones. I offer my deepest sympathies to them.

“The local community in Ballykeel, as well as wider across Ballymena, will be in shock hearing this tragic news.

“I urge anyone with information on this shocking incident to contact police with it immediately.”

Rodney Quigley, local councillor for the area, said on social media: “Waking up this morning to the sad news of another young Ballykeel man’s life taken too soon.

Expressing sympathy for family and friends, he added: “My thoughts and prayers are with you all.”
