PSNI murder attempts lead to two arrests

Police investigating separate murder bids against PSNI officers have made two arrests.

The men, aged 39 and 35, were detained by detectives from the PSNI’s Terrorism Investigation Unit under the Terrorism Act.

Both men were arrested following searches in the Lurgan and Craigavon areas “as part of the ongoing investigations into the attempted murder of police officers at the Tullygally Road area of Craigavon on Friday 26th July and the attempted murder of police officers and army personnel at the Wattlebridge Road area of Newtownbutler on Monday 19th August”.

They have been taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning, police say.

Belfast Live understands a number of items were removed from at least one of the properties searched on Sunday morning. The move comes after previous searches in the same area a number of days ago.
