Police have made a number of arrests after an altercation in Newry on Friday.
It follows the report of assault and criminal damage in Sugar Island.
Police arrested several people after a car was allegedly damaged and a “substance” was thrown at a man and woman.
Inspector John Downey said: “At around 4.20pm, a man and woman who were in a black SAAB got out of their vehicle and approached a grey Volkswagen parked in the area and smashed a window of the vehicle.
“It was reported the woman then threw some type of substance at the male and female who were inside the Volkswagen before making off.
“At this stage, it is not believed this was a corrosive substance and both occupants of the Volkswagen attended hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be serious.
“We subsequently arrested a 28-years old woman on suspicion of common assault and other traffic-related offences. She has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.”
A 33-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of common assault and criminal damage. He is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
