PSNI investigating assault claims after Dublin Rd incident

Police are investigating a report of an assault in south Belfast.

One man is understood to have made a complaint about the alleged action of security staff working in the area of Dublin Rd.

Video footage captured by members of the public was shared on social media at the weekend and the PSNI have confirmed they are now dealing with an official complaint.

In the footage a young man dressed in a white T-shirt and jeans is seen to be in contact with three men dressed in dark suits.

Following an alleged incident the man is seen to be on the ground as cars drive slowly around him.

Two members of the public are also seen apparently coming to his assistance.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police received a report of an assault in the Dublin Road area of Belfast shortly before 5.30pm on Saturday, May 1. Enquiries are ongoing.”
