PSNI investigate after 'dog dies after being rescued from locked car on hot day'

An investigation is underway after a 'dog died after being rescued from a locked car on a hot day'.

Concerned members of the public contacted police after spotting a dog in distress in a locked parked car on Sunday, July 14.

Police confirmed members of the public broke the window of the car to rescue the dog and it was taken to a local vet in Enniskillen but was pronounced dead.

On Monday, a PSNI spokeswoman said: "Yesterday at approximately 2.05pm police received a call reference a dog that was in distress whilst locked in a parked car in the Wellington Road area of Enniskillen.

"The window of the vehicle was broken by a member of the public in order to retrieve the distressed animal, which was taken to a local vet, where it was pronounced dead.

"Two people are helping police with their enquiries. Enquiries into this incident are ongoing."
