PSNI hit out at 'time waster' who asked them to call their mobile phone missing at home

We've all been unable to locate our mobiles in the house at one stage or another, but one person in Mid Ulster appears to have taken the search to a whole new level.

Police said they were recently contacted by someone in the district as they "couldn't remember where they'd set their mobile in the house".

Now they have issued a plea for people not to take up valuable police time.

A PSNI spokesperson said on Thursday afternoon: "We've just had someone in Mid Ulster phone us to say they couldn't remember where they'd set their mobile in the house.

"Asked us to phone it and they'd listen out for it ringing...

"Think about that for a moment.

"A spectacular waste of a call handlers time. Let's keep 101 and 999 for genuine calls!"

And the post on Facebook attracted quite a number of comments.

One person said: "Why didn’t they ring the phone from the phone they were calling the police on."

Another added: "Perhaps it was someone who is totally alone in the world and thought the police were there to help them!?! Just saying."
