PSNI come to aid of dad-to-be whose car had broken on way to hospital

Two heroic PSNI officers came to the aid of a dad-to-be who had broken down on the way to the hospital.

Officers were on patrol in Derry on Thursday when they spotted a broken down car.

After pulling in and approaching the vehicle they spoke to the driver who officers say was 'visibly upset'. He was trying to make it to Altnagelvin hospital to see the birth of his baby.

But fear not officers sprung into action to help the man on his way.

A PSNI Foyle officer explained: "Well the lads put on the blues and twos to battle the traffic and the adverse weather conditions successfully bringing this man to hospital just in time to witness the birth of his son.

"We've received the photo of your beautiful baby boy sir, congratulations! Pass on our congratulations and a big well done to the mother. We expect to see him for work experience soon!"
