PSNI close road near Lisburn in both directions after serious crash

Emergency services are currently in attendance at a crash near Lisburn.

Police are advising motorists who may be driving near or surrounding the Hillhall Road to avoid the area.

The road has been closed in both directions, between Drumbeg Road and Lisburn, due to the road traffic collision this afternoon, Thursday, September 23.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Please seek alternative routes for your journey."

Meanwhile, police in Co Down are appealing for witnesses to a reported collision which happened yesterday.

The incident, which involved a car and a cyclist, was reported at approximately 4.30pm, and took place at Main Street in Newcastle.

"The male cyclist was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition," a PSNI spokesperson said.

"A woman in her 40s was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily injury by dangerous driving.

"She was subsequently released on bail pending further enquiries

" Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident, or has dash cam footage, to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 1485 of 22/09/21."
