PSNI car damaged in North Belfast crash

PSNI are appealing for information after a police car was badly damaged in a crash in North Belfast.

The "damage only road traffic collision" happened on Wednesday night shortly before 9.25pm on the Crumlin Road.

Police say the crash, which involved a Volkswagen Polo, occurred as officers were responding to an emergency incident in the area.

A PSNI spokesperson added: "Extensive damage was also reported to a number of bollards and junction boxes in the area following the incident.

"There were no reports of any injuries.

"Enquiries are underway to establish what occurred and anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have captured it on their dash cam, is asked to call police on the non-emergency number on 101, quoting reference number 2021 17/02/21."

Meanwhile, a man was taken to hospital following a shooting in West Belfast on Wednesday night.

Police were called to Colinbrook Lane in the Poleglass area at 8.15pm after a man was shot in the lower leg, close to the Good Shepherd Primary School.

Sinn Fein councillor Stephen Magennis, said that the local community completely condemned the attack and that "guns had no place on the streets".
