PSNI attendance in North Belfast after reports of 'petrol bombs' being thrown

Police are currently in attendance following reports of youths throwing 'missiles' in the North Queen Street area of North Belfast.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area and Translink say their Metro 1D service in the area has been stopped.

A spokesperson said: "1D services to omit North Queen Street out and in until further notice."

SDLP Councillor Paul McCusker said: "Currently at Duncairn Gardens and North Queen Street as tensions are high and there has been a number of incidents including petrol bombs that have been thrown.

"I would urge those involved to stop this immediately as residents are frightened and there is no support for this."

A PSNI spokesperson said: "There are no further details at this stage."
