PSNI at scene of 'ongoing incident' in East Belfast

Police are currently at the scene of an incident in East Belfast.

Officers have cordoned Carncaver Road this evening where it is believed a pipe bomb type device was thrown at a house causing a small fire in the living room.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "The fire was extinguished by NIFRS. There was one in the property at the time of the incident.

"Inspector Eastwood would appeal to anyone who either witnessed this incident or who has information that could assist police with their investigations to contact them at Strandtown PSNI Station on 101 quoting reference 1925  02/03/20."

DUP Councillor Tommy Sandford spoke to Belfast Live at the scene.

He said: "Fortunately there has been nobody injured and it's been dealt with very quickly and we are making sure that neighbours and everyone is ok."

There are no further details at this time.
