PSNI appeal after child knocked down in hit-and-run

A young child has sustained injuries after a hit-and-run collision in Newry on Sunday afternoon.

Police say the incident happened at around 4pm in the Violet Hill Avenue area.

They say a white vehicle, make and model unknown, struck the 10-year-old girl who was on her bike at the time.

In an appeal for witnesses, a PSNI spokesperson said: "We believe it may be a female driving this white car however are appealing for anyone who may have seen this crash or who may have information that could assist us in ongoing enquiries to please get in touch by dialing 101 and giving reference number 1892 of 26/07/20."
