A man has been bailed following his arrest “on suspicion of possession of an extreme pornographic image” during an operation by anti-terror police.
Police have released few details but say a 49-year-old man was taken to Strabane PSNI station for questioning.
Detectives from the PSNI’s Terrorism Investigation Unit also carried out searches under the Criminal Justice and Immigration Act 2008 in the Creggan area of Derry on Wednesday (November 13).
A PSNI spokesman added last night: “A number of items were seized for further examination and a 49 year old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an extreme pornographic image.
“The suspect has been taken to Strabane PSNI where he is being questioned by detectives.”
They said on Thursday morning: "A 49-year-old man arrested on suspicion of possession of an extreme pornographic image by Detectives from PSNI’s Terrorism Investigation Unit following a search in the Creggan area of Derry/Londonderry yesterday, has been released on police bail pending further enquiries."
