PSG 'weighing up' £35m bid for Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

PSG are considering a £35m bid for Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as his contract winds down.

The Gunners' forward is entering the final 12 months of his deal at the Emirates which could force the north London club into selling.

Interest in the Gabon international is mounting with Barcelona and Inter Milan long-term admirers.

But Le10Sport understands that the Ligue 1 champions will make the first move.

Edinson Cavani is set to leave the French capital this summer meaning the Parisians are short of an attacking option.

Mauro Icardi is also coming to the end of his loan spell from Inter Milan meaning PSG will almost certainly dip into the market.

Their financial muscle will also enhance their chances of landing Aubameyang.

The 31-year-old has been Arsenal's main source of goals since joining in January 2018 from Borussia Dortmund.

His strike rate of 61 goals in 97 appearances is hugely impressive but the Gunners are determined not to allow players to run down their contracts.

Having seen the likes of Aaron Ramsey leave in recent years for free the club's hierarchy are looking to take control.

That could play into PSG's hands who could offer well below Arsenal's valuation of the player.

Talks over a contract extension had begun prior to the coronavirus lockdown between Arsenal and the player.

They were subsequently shelved but the timing could now work against the Gunners as they face up to the reality of losing their star striker.

Arsenal could also wave goodbye to frontman Alexandre Lacazette with a potential swap deal with Atletico Madrid touted.

It would see Frenchman Thomas Lemar head in the other direction.

Lacazette was heavily linked with a move to Atletico before he joined Arsenal back in 2017.
