PSG vs Man City prediction and odds: Back City to make huge Champions League statement in Paris

Many people's idea of the two best teams in Europe meet at the Stade de France on Tuesday night but this might not turn out the way most Parisians expect.

PSG's domestic campaign has got off to a flawless start and Mauricio Pochettino's side have quickly built up a 9pt lead over their nearest rivals. However, they required 90th minute winners in two of their last three domestic fixtures, while they needed an 89th minute goal to finally put Montpellier to bed on Sunday.

The hosts are not short on top-class attacking talent but it's a unit that is still to really click into gear despite PSG's impressive set of results and Pochettino is sweating on the fitness of Lionel Messi for Tuesday's clash.

PSG, whose own rearguard has already been been breached in five of their opening eight Ligue 1 matches, won't have come up against a side as strong in all departments as Manchester City this term and Pep Guardiola's side have more than enough quality all over the pitch to stun the Stade de France crowd in the same way they did in the 2020/21 competition.

The hosts have lost four of their last 11 Champions League matches at the Stade de France, including their last two, while Paris have lost their last three home games against English visitors. City have still to lose against PSG, having won three and drawn two of their five meetings.

PSG vs Man City prediction

City were never seriously troubled by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and their miserly defensive unit can stifle PSG's stars. With such a strong platform, City have a great opportunity to come away from this fixture with all three points because the hosts have looked particularly vulnerable defensively this season, as Club Brugge highlighted in game week one.

City were far too good for the hosts in Paris in 2020/21 and they look a great bet to show the rest of Europe that they are the team to beat in this year's competition.
