PSG vs Istanbul Basaksehir suspended after racism allegation

Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League clash against Istanbul Basaksehir was suspended in the first half following an alleged racist incident.

PSG, who are competing with Manchester United and RB Leipzig for a spot in the knockout phase of the competition, walked off the field in solidarity with their Turkish opponents following a confrontation on the touchline.

It is alleged that the fourth official, Sebastian Coltescu, made a racist remark towards Basaksehir's assistant manager.

A Uefa statement said: “Following an alleged incident involving the fourth official the match was temporarily suspended. After consultation with both teams it was agreed the match would restart with a different fourth official. UEFA will thoroughly investigate matter and further communication will be made in due course”

Former Newcastle United and Chelsea striker Demba Ba was pictured confronting the officials, with the team then walking off the field.

PSG's players quickly followed and Basaksehir's official Twitter account shared a post that read: 'No to racism,' alongside UEFA's respect logo.

The result of that match will have no bearing on United's chances of qualification if they lose in Germany as they are level on points with PSG but have an inferior head-to-head record.
