The 2025 Club World Cup has its latest quarter-finalist as Paris Saint-Germain breezed past Inter Miami in Atlanta today and, will face either Flamengo or Bayern Munich in the last eight.
The Herons had been the surprise package of the tournament but a last-16 showdown against the best team in Europe ultimately proved a step too far for Lionel Messi and company as the Argentine was unable to conjure up something special to inspire a shock result for the MLS side.
Joao Neves had broken the deadlock after just six minutes. Inter Miami, somehow, escaped further punishment with half-time in sight but a devastating five-minute spell effectively ended the game as a contest. Neves added his second with a simple tap-in, Tomas Aviles turned the ball into his own net and then Achraf Hakimi got in the act at the second attempt after seeing his initial effort come back off the crossbar as the Ligue 1 giants continue their quest to be crowned world champions.
