PSG vs Bayern Munich live: Final score and result as Desire Doue seals Club World Cup quarter-final win

Despite two red cards, PSG did enough to hang on and beat Bayern Munich in the Fifa Club World Cup quarter-finals.

It was a manic finish in Atlanta after Desire Doue found the back of the net in the 78th minute, beating an otherwise unimpeachable Manuel Neuer.

Bayern had two goals disallowed in the game, with Dayot Upamecano’s header in first-half stoppage time flagged down for offside. Harry Kane joined the party late on, but the linesman again cut celebrations short after he found the bottom corner.

PSG looked set to see out victory before Willian Pacho was given his marching orders by Anthony Taylor for a studs-first challenge on Leon Goretzka’s shin.

And, that was only the beginning, as Lucas Hernandez soon followed in added time at the end of the 90 minutes after lashing out at a Bayern opponent.

With the Parisians down to nine-men, the German-side pushed for an equaliser and were left open at the back. Ousmane Dembele capitalised to finish the game off, sweeping the ball beyond Neuer from the centre of the Bayern box.

That was far from the end of the drama, though, as Vincent Kompany’s men had a penalty awarded beyond the 100th minute for a high boot from Nuno Mendes.

But, VAR overturned the decision, and it remained 2-0 when the final whistle blew.

Bayern’s Jamala Musiala suffered an awful leg injury just before the end of the first-half, and was not seen after the interval.

PSG will now face either Borussia Dortmund of Real Madrid, who contest the last quarter-final later tonight.

European champions PSG had come into the game off the back of dismantling Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami 4-0, giving their former player a harsh reality check on the different beast the Parisians have morphed into since his departure.

Bayern Munich, meanwhile, breezed past Brazilian dark horses Flamengo, who had already proved they were capable of toppling Europe’s biggest hitters when they beat Chelsea in the group stages.

Manuel Neuer explains why PSG will pose such a challenge

16:10 , Harry Latham-Coyle

Manuel Neuer has seen it all across nearly a decade and a half in a Bayern Munich shirt, and may have a key role to play today in denying Paris Saint-Germain’s array of attacking talent.

“I don’t think they’re looking forward to playing against us,” said the 39-year-old goalkeeper. “They’re very secure on the ball, they’re technically strong and very physical. They don’t take breaks, they incessantly hit the gas.

“I think nobody has a clear advantage. It’ll come down to details – and avoiding mistakes. Both teams have players who can strike immediately.”

Super-sub Hercules strikes to send Fluminense into last four at Club World Cup

15:50 , Harry Latham-Coyle

Matheus Martinelli and substitute Hercules struck as Brazilian side Fluminense advanced to the Club World Cup semi-finals with a 2-1 win over Saudi club Al-Hilal.

Martinelli fired into the top corner after finding some room in the box following Gabriel Fuentes' cutback five minutes before half-time although they were quickly pegged back in Orlando.

While Al-Hilal were denied a penalty by VAR, Marcos Leonardo struck from close range following a corner in the 51st minute for his fourth goal of the tournament.

But Hercules, who came off the bench to guarantee Fluminense's win over Inter Milan last time out, struck in the 70th minute as the super-sub fired low into the net after his initial shot was blocked.

Enzo Maresca says Chelsea Club World Cup win over Palmeiras was ‘perfect night’

15:40 , Harry Latham-Coyle

Enzo Maresca hailed the “perfect night” after his Chelsea side reached the Club World Cup final and witnessed a sparkling display by incoming signing Estevao Willian.

A deflected late Malo Gusto cross saw the Londoners snatch a 2-1 victory in their quarter-final against Palmeiras in Philadelphia.

That came after Cole Palmer’s early opener had been cancelled out by a stunning strike from Estevao, the 18-year-old winger who is to join them after the tournament.

Maresca said: “We’re very happy. It’s a fantastic day. The semi-finals of the Club World Cup – the best clubs in the world – and we are there.

“Probably for us it has been the perfect night because we won and Estevao scored, so it was very good for all of us.”

Harry Kane highlights Bayern key to upsetting PSG at Club World Cup

15:15 , Jack Rathborn

Harry Kane maintains Bayern Munich will use the “feeling” from defeating Paris Saint-Germain in last year’s Champions League to come out on top in the Club World Cup quarter-finals.

Kane struck a double in the 4-2 win over Flamengo to set up a last eight clash with the European champions.

And ‘FC Hollywood’ came out on top in the group phase of last season’s Champions League, with Kim Min Jae scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win.

And now Kane is determined to come out on top, emphasising how Vincent Kompany’s side believe they can beat anybody at their best.
