PSG vs Basaksehir racism row official set to quit football and avoid ban

The fourth official at the heart of the Basaksehir and Paris Saint-Germain player walk-off and racism scandal is set to quit football.

Romanian whistler Sebastian Coltescu and his fellow officials were all replaced tonight as the remaining 76 minutes of the Champions League group clash kicked off tonight.

It was alleged that Coltescu had made racist remarks about Basaksehir's assistant coach Pierre Webo and a 10-game ban had been touted as a potential punishment with UEFA investigating the incident.

However, he looks set to dodge punishment as he had previously announced Tuesday's fixture would be his last.

The official has already been removed from FIFA referee’s list for future appointments and any action from the governing body looks to be meaningless at this stage.

Coltescu told the Romanian media: “I just try to be good.

“I’m not going to read any news these next few days. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m not racist. At least, that’s what I hope.”

Ahead of the restarted game tonight, both Basaksehir and  Paris Saint-Germain wore t-shirts that read 'No to Racism'.

The Ligue 1 superstars won the replayed game 5-1 with a double from Neymar and a hat-trick from Kylian Mbappe.
