PSG 'to make January move for Dele Alli' with Tottenham open to transfer

Paris-Saint Germain are hoping to make it third time lucky with their attempts to sign Dele Alli as they plot a fresh bid in the January transfer window.

The midfielder is out of favour at Tottenham and has been largely pushed to the fringes by manager Jose Mourinho.

Alli, 24, has featured eight times for Spurs so far this season but only twice in domestic action, and was last named in a Premier League squad back in October.

Despite regular involvement in Tottenham's Europa League campaign, Alli was left on the bench for Thursday's win over Antwerp, giving a clear indication he is no longer part of Mourinho's plans.

According to The Mail , PSG are now set to make another approach to take Alli on loan when the window reopens.

Their report adds that the French champions are confident Spurs will agree to let Alli go this time round, with the player also keen to reignite his career.

Alli still feels he can put himself into contention for England's Euro 2021 squad in the summer but knows he needs to be playing week-in, week-out, to stand any chance of a call-up.

Tottenham rejected PSG's advances in the summer but Mourinho has been less than impressed with Alli's contribution since.

It is not known if PSG are looking to include an option-to-buy clause in the deal, or whether it's a straight loan until the end of the season.

In either case, Mourinho has played down rumours of a rift with Alli and has indicated it is not down to him to make a final call on his future.

"I don’t make decisions about selling a, b or c, or letting d, e or f go on loan," Mourinho told reporters earlier this month.

“I am responsible for the players that belong to my squad and are working with me."

"I don’t have any problem with Dele," he added. "I don’t have any problems with anyone. I’m really happy I don’t have personal issues with any of my players.

"Players are happier when they play. They’re not happy when they don’t play and I don’t blame them. That’s just the way it is."
