PSG star Marco Verratti ruled out of Bayern Munich clash after testing positive for Covid-19

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti is set to miss this week’s Champions League quarter-final clash with Bayern Munich after testing positive for coronavirus.

A club statement confirmed that the Italian tested positive for the virus on Friday after returning from international duty, sparking a mandatory 10-day quarantine under French regulations.

“He will isolate and is being submitted to the appropriate health protocol,” PSG wrote on Twitter.

That means the 28-year-old will not be available for the first leg of the quarter-final tie in Munich, nor PSG’s crucial Ligue 1 meeting with Lille, with the two sides level on points at the top of the division.

Tuesday’s meeting will be a repeat of last season’s Champions League final, a game which Bayern won 1-0, with Verratti coming on as a second-half substitute.

The winners will play either Borussia Dortmund or Manchester City in the semi-final.
