PSG sporting director speaks on Kylian Mbappe future amid Liverpool transfer links

Liverpool. Kylian Mbappe.

Kylian Mbappe. Liverpool.

The transfer links between the Paris Saint-Germain superstar and the Reds are never-ending.

And today, sporting director Leonardo Araujo says the club will "decide soon" on the 22-year-old's future as his contract heads towards its final 12 months.

Mbappe's deal expires in 2022 and bosses at the Parc de Princes are hoping to secure an extension with the attacker.

The world-class frontman has refused to commit his future to PSG publicly.

And if the club are unable to agree a new contract with the Frenchman, they will lose him on a free transfer next summer - meaning Mbappe could well be sold at the end of this season.

However, Leonardo has insisted discussions are "advancing" and "dialogue is good".

"I was surprised at the judgments about Kylian," he told France Bleu.

"He has a course. Its position is every time more important.

"Kylian, since he started in Monaco until today, it's so huge and unique that we can't discuss what he is or not.

"He already has the responsibilities. Then there is the constancy, the path. We talk, we've been talking for a long time.

"Our position is clear, we know what we want.

"We will arrive at the moment when a decision will be made.

"We have a good opening of the dialogue. We'll decide soon."
