PSG's three-stage 'transfer plan' includes bold Mohamed Salah swoop amid contract saga

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly considering a move for either Borussia Dortmund ace Erling Haaland or Liverpool star Mohamed Salah next summer.

The French giants are believed to be planning for life without striker Kylian Mbappe, 22, who has just eight months remaining on his existing deal.

Real Madrid have been linked with Mbappe for several months and the La Liga outfit reportedly want to sign the World Cup winner when his contract expires.

And according to French outlet Le10Sport, PSG have identified Haaland, 21, as a potential replacement for Mbappe.

The Norwegian striker is one of the most prolific in Europe, scoring 49 goals in as many Bundesliga games since joining Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.

But, as reported by Spanish newspaper AS, several Premier League clubs are also interested in signing Haaland next summer.

The youngster speaks fluent English, was born in Yorkshire and his did - Alf-Inge - played for Nottingham Forest, Leeds and Manchester City.

Rumours suggest Haaland would prefer a move to England and PSG are plotting a move for Salah, 29, if they can't get their primary target.

The Egyptian forward has less than two years remaining on his existing Liverpool deal and reportedly wants £500,000-a-week to commit his future to the club.

If Salah doesn't put pen to paper on a new contract before next summer, the Reds may decide to cash in on him.

The former Chelsea and Roma ace has been in stunning form this term, scoring seven goals and producing four assists in eight Premier League outings.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp won't want to lose Salah any time soon, recently admitting: "I think that it’s clear there is nobody better than him in world football at the moment."

But Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes the player's future lies elsewhere, recently insisting : "I don’t think he will stay at Liverpool for the rest of his career.

"It's my personal view. It’s always been that view but I could be wrong.

"The Premier League would be weaker if he left. I just think you look at someone like Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, Kylian Mbappe, it’s not all about the money.

"There’s a project and there’s something they have to achieve in their lives. They have to play at certain clubs, they have to go and experience certain things.

"I think Salah’s got to experience Real Madrid, the Bernabeu - Real Madrid are going to come back, by the way.

"I know it’s not great at the moment at Barcelona and Madrid but Salah is similar to those I’ve just mentioned, I think he has to have that on his CV at the end of his career.

"I think he’s done an unbelievable job at Liverpool. I’ve just always felt he wants a Paris, a Real Madrid, a Barcelona and I think he’ll go and get it."
