Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar has been issued with a three-match suspension for next season’s Champions League following an incident in the defeat to Manchester United.
The French champions tumbled out of the Round-of-16 stage in March in dramatic circumstances, as VAR awarded United a last-gasp penalty that Marcus Rashford converted to send Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side through on away goals after a 3-3 aggregate draw.
Neymar missed both legs against United through injury but still managed to capture the headlines after a foul-mouthed rant against the match officials following the penalty, which was given against Presnel Kimpembe for handball.
The Brazil international quickly took to social media to vent his frustration, writing: “This is a disgrace, they put four people that know nothing about football in charge of looking at the replay for VAR.

"There is no penalty. How can it be a handball when it hits his back! Go f*** yourselves!”
A statement from UEFA confirmed the decision, which will see Neymar miss half of PSG’s group-stage matches next season.
"The CEDB has decided to suspend the Paris Saint-Germain player Neymar Junior for three (3) UEFA competition matches for which he would be otherwise eligible, for insulting match officials."
Paris Saint-Germain’s opponents in the Champions League in next season’s group stage have yet to be confirmed but they will be in Pot 1 for the draw after clinching the Ligue 1 title last weekend by beating Monaco.
