PSG reveal 'private' talks with Kylian Mbappe amid Liverpool transfer rumours

PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino has opened up about his "private conversations" with Kylian Mbappe and refused to rule out the prospect of the star leaving Paris Saint-Germain on a free next summer.

Mbappe's future has been the source of constant speculation this summer.

The forward sent transfer rumours swirling earlier in the transfer window when he reportedly told PSG he wanted to leave and with his contract expiring in June the possibility of him leaving on a free transfer has alarm bells ringing for the Parisian side.

Liverpool have been tentatively linked with a move for the French international, while Real Madrid are said to be long-term suitors.

Madrid remain front-runners for his signature, but PSG are hopeful they can convince the 22-year-old forward to sign a new contract.

In a recent interview, the manager was asked whether the rumours are true that the World Cup winner has told him that he will not pen an extension to his current deal.

Speaking to Le Parisien, the Argentinian said: “Did Mbappé tell me he won't extend? These are private conversations.

"But in no case did Kylian talk to me about that. Can we imagine him leaving for free? I don't use imagination."

It is highly unlikely that Liverpool will make a move for the Frenchman this summer with his rumoured outrageous €200million price tag pushing him way out of the Reds' budget.

However, Klopp's side could be tempted to swoop in next year if a free transfer is on the cards, depending on the 22-year-old's salary demands.
