PSG 'launch last-gasp transfer bid' to prevent Matthijs De Ligt from joining Juventus

Matthijs de Ligt is said to be on the verge of joining Juventus - but Paris Saint-Germain have other ideas.

According to Paris United , the French giants are not willing to let De Ligt head to Serie A without a fight and are plotting a last-gasp bid to change his mind.

De Ligt has been the subject of intense transfer speculation, with Manchester United initially priced out of a move before Barcelona , once considered the front-runners, also refused to match PSG and Juventus.

It was PSG who initially advanced the financial battle for De Ligt when they blew Barcelona out of the water with a mega offer.

But they have since been outdone by Juventus, with Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf and reports in Italy claiming they have won the race for the in-demand defender.

De Ligt is currently on holiday and will make a final decision when he returns, with revised terms from PSG set to be waiting for him in a bid to change his mind.

Leonardo has now taken his place as sporting director at PSG and will launch his bid to convince De Ligt the French capital is where his future lies.

His family have reportedly already looking at properties in the city when he was close to agreeing to join PSG.

Despite Juventus' attempts to land him as their first major signing since appointing Maurizio Sarri as manager, they now face competition again.

PSG are reportedly willing to offer De Ligt €10m per season plus €5m in bonuses to tempt him to make them his next club.

Barcelona, meanwhile, have dropped out of the race having not spoken to Ajax or De Ligt for a number of weeks since his financial demands exceeded what they were willing to pay.
