PSG 'in talks' with Philippe Coutinho as Barcelona edge closer to Neymar transfer return

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly discussing terms with Barcelona's Philippe Coutinho as he could be included in a deal which would see Neymar go the other way.

Both players have been linked with a move away from their respective clubs all summer, with Coutinho turning down an offer of a loan deal to move to Tottenham on the Premier League's deadline day.

Neymar is known to want to go back to Barcelona , the club he starred for between 2013-2017, while he has also been linked with a potential shock move to Barca's bitter rivals Real Madrid .

The 27-year-old appears to have burnt bridges with PSG after he failed to return to training on time this summer and has repeatedly pushed for a move, and in their first game of Ligue 1, a 3-0 win over Nimes this weekend, PSG supporters sang X-rated songs and held up an explicit banner abusing the player.

According to French publication RMC the French club would be much more willing to let Neymar go if they were to receive a player in return, and have identified Coutinho as the man they want.

It is a move which would appear to suit all parties, with PSG happy to wash their hands of Neymar given the right offer and Barcelona also happy to see Coutinho move on after his disappointing debut season at the Nou Camp.

Both clubs would also presumably want to do the deal sooner rather than later, with the French side having kicked off their campaign and Barcelona's first game in La Liga coming on Friday against Athletic Bilbao.

It remains to be seen how much money PSG would demand in addition to Coutinho for Neymar, but having spent a world record £198m on the player in 2017 they would surely want to recoup at least the majority of that fee.
