PSG chief 'offers Neymar to Barcelona' in last-ditch Kylian Mbappe effort

Paris Saint-Germain chief Nasser Al Khelaifi has offered Neymar to Barcelona in a bid to keep hold of Kylian Mbappe.

The France international has been strongly linked with a transfer away from the club this season.

Real Madrid were desperate to sign the World Cup winner in the summer and made a number of bids - the last amounting to £170m.

But PSG rejected the offers - despite Mbappe entering the final year of his contract - and they believe he will stay beyond the current campaign.

However, as matters stand the 22-year-old will indeed leave - but club chief Al Khelaifi has not given up the fight to keep hold of him.

According to El Nacional, the PSG supremo has offered Barcelona president Joan Laporta a surprise transfer deal.

He is ready to offer Neymar through intermediaries after being less than impressed with the Brazilian.

In Ligue 1 this season, the 29-year-old has managed just three goals. And in the Champions League, he has been even less convincing after failing to find the net.

By offloading Neymar to Barcelona, PSG will be able to pump that money into negotiations with Mbappe - offering him wages possibly too good to turn down.

However, whether Los Cules could afford the Brazilian superstar remains to be seen with his salary a major stumbling block.

Barca are €1bn in debt and were forced into letting Messi go in the summer because of the situation.

The Argentine’s departure was followed by Antoine Griezmann, who returned to Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, Mbappe has hinted that his time at the Parc des Princes could be coming to an end.

The Frenchman is desperate to win the Champions League while Real Madrid look primed to land the striker in the summer.

He said: “I have had five extraordinary years, I have taken advantage of every moment and I continue to do so.

“Now there are many things, great challenges and I have already spoken about that.”
