PSG chief makes Kylian Mbappe announcement to put Chelsea and Roman Abramovich on alert

Chelsea may have just been handed a massive Kylian Mbappe transfer blow.

Whilst there has been very little to no indication that the Blues would attempt a sensational bid for Paris Saint-Germain superstar, the Frenchman's recent admission has opened the door to a possible exit in the future.

"I'm here. I am in the project for a fourth year," Mbappe told beIN SPORTS, cited by Goal.

Lampard warns Chelsea not to get carried away

"The 50th year of the club is an important year for the club, the supporters, everyone, so I will be there no matter what.

"I will try to bring back trophies with the team and give the best of myself."

And given Chelsea's ambitious spending in the summer transfer window just gone, coupled with claims that owner Roman Abramovich is willing to splash the cash again, anything could be possible.

However, it would appear that Mbappe will not be the next big-money signing at Stamford Bridge following deals for Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, and Ben Chilwell.

This is because PSG Sporting director Leonardo has announced that talks to extend the forward's contract - which expires in 2022 - are underway.

"We've started negotiations with Neymar, Mbappe and Di Maria to extend their contracts," Leonardo told the club's official website. "Bernat, too, and Draxler is at the end of his contract.

"Some young people too. We will intensify this.

"Remember that PSG suffered financial losses this year, we’re in a complicated moment and it’s not easy, but we’re talking directly with Mbappe and Neymar.

"There is a question of timing. The idea of an extension exists. We have arrived at the moment when we must have clearer situations."

With that said, it was only in September when the Times reported that the 21-year-old told PSG that he wants the 2020/21 campaign to be his final season in the French capital.

Moreover, and perhaps providing the greatest encouragement to Chelsea, it's reported that he is keen on either a move to Spain's La Liga or the Premier League.

But if he signs a new deal at the Parc des Princes, his long-term future will be in Ligue 1.
