Paris Saint-Germain chief Leonardo has taken issue with the comments of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez over his side's pursuit of Kylian Mbappe.
In what eventually developed into being the transfer saga of the summer, Los Blancos tried to desperately to pry Mbappe away from the French capital but their advances were swiftly rebuffed by the Parisians.
Leonardo's anger stems from Perez's comments on Spanish outlet El Debate, where he revealed: "In January we will have news from Mbappe. We hope that on January 1 everything can be solved."
The Real Madrid president did swiftly backtrack, telling RMC : "My words were misinterpreted. What I said is that we have to wait until next year to hear from you, always with respect for PSG with which we have good relations."
However, if Leonardo's recent comments to L'Equipe are anything to go by those relations may have taken a significant dent in the wake of Perez's remarks.
The PSG sporting director angrily explained: "This new departure is situated in the lack of respect towards PSG and towards Mbappé.
"In fact, in the same week a Real Madrid player [ Karim Benzema ], then the Madrid coach and now the president speak of Kylian as if they already was one of their own.
"Florentino had already spoken to his Mbappe fans this week. I repeat: it is a lack of respect that we cannot tolerate."
Despite Perez's climb down, insisting his words had been misinterpreted, Leonardo remains angry, claiming: "This has been happening for two years.
I only remember that the market period has ended and that there is a season in progress.
"There are games and Madrid cannot continue to behave in this way. Let this stop now! Mbappé is a PSG player and the club wants this relationship to last."
While Leonardo has been left incensed by Perez talking to the press, Mbappe himself has shed light on the potential switch to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Frenchman explained to L'Equipe: "Real made an offer [reports throughout the summer suggested multiple were made].
"When I say that lots of things were heard, I’m talking about something else – people said that I turned down six or seven renewal offers, no way!
"People were saying that I didn’t want to talk to Leonardo, even though it’s the president [ Nasser Al-Khelaifi ] who wanted to take things over."
Mbappe's desire to join Real Madrid is clearly strong, as he revealed: "I am attached to Paris, and if I had left this summer it would have only been for Real."
