PSG chairman issues Lionel Messi response to Neymar after transfer demand

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has remained tight-lipped over the club's interest in Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi.

Messi has faced an uncertain future ever since handing in a transfer request at the Nou Camp this summer, although he was ultimately persuaded to stay put.

However the rumours surrounding his next move have refused to go away and, this week, former Barca team-mate Neymar urged PSG to make their move for the Argentine superstar.

That has sparked a debate over whether the French giants will step up their interest in Messi, who has also long attracted interest from Manchester City - but Al-Khelaifi has refused to speculate.

Speaking to French talk show Touche Pas a Mon Poste, Al-Khelaifi was asked about the possibility of Messi moving to Ligue 1.

"Messi is a Barcelona player. I can't talk about that," replied Al-Khelaifi.

It comes after Neymar helped PSG to a huge win over Manchester United on Wednesday night - before outlining his plans to play with Messi again.

The forward scored twice in their 3-1 win at Old Trafford in a game which saw the beaten Champions League finalists overcome Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s side.

But, immediately after the game, Neymar dropped a bombshell by telling Brazilian TV that he plans to spend next season playing with Messi.

With Messi’s demands to leave Barcelona rejected and the Catalan club linked with a move to bring back Neymar, a Nou Camp return could be his best option.

But he also insisted he is happy to be reunited in the French capital with PSG one of the few clubs who could potentially fund a move for Messi if he is allowed to finally depart.

“What I want most is to play with [Messi] again, to be able to enjoy being on the pitch with him again,” Neymar told Brazilian reporters (via Metro).

“He could play in my place. He won’t have any problems, I’m sure. I want to play with him again and I’m sure that, next season, we have to do it.”
