PSG boss Thomas Tuchel gives update on Layvin Kurzawa as star 'agrees Arsenal transfer'

PSG boss Thomas Tuchel claims he is not aware of any potential transfer involving Layvin Kurzawa, despite the defender reportedly agreeing a move to Arsenal .

Kurzawa's PSG contract expires at the end of this season, with the Gunners believed to be leading the race for his signature.

France Football report Kurzawa has already accepted terms on a provisional five-year deal with Arsenal ahead of a switch in the summer.

However the 27-year-old is yet to sign a pre-contract agreement, with the finer points of the deal still to be concluded.

And the transfer is news to Kurzawa's manager Tuchel, who is keen to retain the Frenchman's services.

“We need Layvin,” Tuchel said in a news conference ahead of PSG’s clash with Lorient on Sunday. “I have not spoken with him about a departure, nor anybody else.

“We have Juan [Bernat] starting on the left and Layvin behind him. Layvin has played well recently, trained well and it is up to him to show what he can do.

“If he is healthy, he will play against Lorient, he is an important player in this position."

Tuchel's stance suggests PSG will look to extend Kurzawa's contract at the club, which would scupper Arsenal's plans to land their target,

PSG were said to have set Arsenal an asking price between £4-6million to complete the signing of Kurzawa this month.

The Gunners have held talks with Kurzawa's agent Kia Joorabchian, and remain hopeful a deal can be arranged either now, or ahead of the summer.

Both Inter and AC Milan are also interested but Kurzawa is believed to prefer a switch to England, and has hired Joorabchian to help structure a move.

Arsenal's sporting director Edu has also been in negotiations with representatives of Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

They face competition from Benfica for the 22-year-old, with Athletico Paranaense demanding a fee in the region of £25million for his services.
