PS5 console appears on eBay for 'three times' the price after selling out on John Lewis and GAME

PS5 shoppers have been left furious after spotting the new console on sale on eBay for hundreds more than its original price.

The PS5 console has been Sony’s biggest launch ever, but fans in the UK are still struggling to get their hands on it.

Following the initial sell-out launch, reports from Sony said that PS5 stock would be available in stores before the end of 2020, but only Amazon seemed to get any.

This means shoppers have now been waiting months to get a PS5 and many have been left wondering if it will ever happen.

This morning, PS5 stock arrived on the John Lewis and GAME websites for the first time since November, but many were left empty handed after the console sold out “almost instantly”.

Taking to Twitter after stock had sold out, angry fans shared their frustrations at seeing the console listed online for “almost three times the price”.

One user, @tomashoughon said: “The absolute state of some people. A handful of PS5s went on sale with John Lewis this morning at around 8am, and were sold out in seconds for around £350 each

“Literally minutes later, JL consoles appearing on eBay for almost 3 times the price. Can’t people just be better?”

Another, @DezD19 said: “Go on ebay, search for ps5 and sort your list for newly listed, the ones people bought less than an hour ago are already up for £850, actual joke”.

A third, @mrreaper7619, wrote: “Already seen a listing on eBay if a ps5 that's just been bought on game UK”.

@Ginga121 said: “@AskeBay recent PS5’s went on pre-order with GAME an hour ago, people have already listed the items and at double the price on eBay even though they only placed an order for it minutes ago... how is this considered acceptable practise? They don’t even have the items…”

A spokesperson from John Lewis said: "We had a small number of stock available this morning however due to high demand these sold very quickly. We apologise to any customer who was unable to buy the product."

The ECHO has contacted GAME for a comment.
