Second chances don’t come around all too often, especially when it comes to scoring limited-edition items like the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection.

If you’d asked me just a few days ago whether I thought Sony would ever restock the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection, my answer would have been a resounding no. But it turns out I’d have been very much mistaken.

To my great surprise, Sony has restocked select items from the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection in the U.K. and U.S.

The ultra-rare PS5 Pro bundle isn’t resurfacing, but in the U.K., the limited-edition PS5 Slim Bundle, PlayStation Portal and DualSense controller decked out in retro PS1-style grey were made available earlier this week, and remarkably they're still in stock now.

Meanwhile, in the U.S., the restock is pretty limited. Only the 30th Anniversary DualSense controller was restocked on Monday (July 21) and sold out after a few hours, but a second restock has just gone live with stock available now.

You do NOT need a PlayStation Plus membership (any tier) to purchase, this was a requirement on Monday but has now been dropped with the restock open to all. The restocks are taking place exclusively at PlayStation Direct.

I’ve been tracking hard-to-buy gaming items for more than five years, from the original run of the 30th Anniversary Collection to the currently sold-out Nintendo Switch 2, and I’m here to help you score a limited-edition item in this restock with live updates and the latest reports on availability all day long.

Hello! Welcome to Tom's Guide's live coverage of today's PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection, we'll be bringing you the latest updates ahead of the confirmed restock of select items in the PS1-inspired range, and with demand expected to be very high for these limited-edition PS5 accessories, you'll want to be ready to go as soon as the restock begins. But don't worry, we'll instantly alert you when the time comes.

What is the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection?

For those totally out of the loop, wondering what the big deal is about this restock, the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection is pretty much exactly what it suggests.

This collection of PS5 hardware and accessories was announced last September and released in November. Designed to celebrate the brand's 30th anniversary, it saw the current generation of PlayStation technology get a retro makeover inspired by the original PlayStation console. Unsurprisingly, it was hugely popular with gamers.

The Collection comprised limited-edition five items: PS5 Pro Bundle, PS5 Slim Bundle, PS5 DualSense Controller, PS5 DualSense Edge Controller and PlayStation Portal.

The entire collection sold out back in September, with a few sporadic restocks through the rest of 2024. We had assumed that was the collection done and dusted, so this restock has come as a real (but very welcome) surprise.

When does the 30th Anniversary restock begin?

Last week, Sony confirmed the restock itself, and also announced the exact date and timings, which was very much appreciated. In the U.K., the 30th Anniversary Collection restock begins at 10 am BST, meanwhile for folks in the U.S. (who are probably all fast asleep right now!), the restock kicks off at 7 am PT. These are the slots to remember.

Is the entire PS 30th Anniversary Collection being restock?

Let's get the bad news out of the way, unfortunately, the entire PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection isn't being restocked today, it's merely select items.

In the U.K, it's set to be a pretty generous restock with the PS5 Slim Bundle, DualSense and PS Portal returning to PlayStation Direct. Whereas in the U.S., it's only the DualSense controller. Disappointing, yes, but the controller is the most popular item.

The PS5 Pro Bundle and the DualSense Edge in lovely retro grey don't look to be getting restocked anywhere, but I'm not hugely surprised. The former was limited to 12,300 pieces and was the crown jewel of the collection. I doubt it'll ever be restocked.

Don't forget, you'll need PS+

The key bit of information about today's restock is that you'll need an active PlayStation Plus membership to score any of the 30th Anniversary items.

It appears you a PS+ account at any tier level will do, so even the lowest level, Essential, is totally fine, which costs $9 per month. You might even be able to score a free trial, though Sony hasn't confirmed if free trial accounts will be eligible - retailers like Walmart have previously prevented shoppers on free trials are taking part in restocks.

My advice: If you're serious about scoring a limited-edition PS5 item today, make sure you've got at least a month of PlayStation Plus Essential set up well in advance.

Will the 30th Anniversary PS5 Pro appear today?

I feel pretty confident when I say it's highly unlikely that the PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle won't be restocked today. This pricey bundle was always the headliner of the 30th Anniversary Collection, and when it was first sold last September, Sony noted it was limited to just 12,300 pieces.

It sold out in a matter of seconds, and hasn't been seen since. I don't expect that'll change any time soon, and it would seem this retro-looking PS5 Pro is going to remain a highly-sought after collector's item going forward. This is one LE items where the term limited edition actually appears to apply. But at least there's still a chance to pick up a DualSense controller or a PS5 Slim Bundle (if you live in the U.K., of course).

DualSense is the key item today

The DualSense 30th Anniversary Edition has been one of the most popular items in the collection, and it's looking like it might be the one with the most availability too.

It's being restocked in both the U.K. and the U.S., suggesting Sony has a little more stock of this controller than it does the other items that are making a re appearance. So, if you desperately want something from the 30th Anniversary Collection, the DualSense seems your best bet. It's the one I'm considering grabbing today as well.

1 hour warning for UK restock

Folks in the U.K., it time to get ready for this restock as we're (just over) an hour away from things kicking off at 10 am BST.

Now is the time to ensure you know your PlayStation Direct login details - they'll be the same as your PSN account - and also to make sure you have an active PlayStation Plus membership as you'll need one to purchase anything during this restock event.

I'll be posting updates as soon as stock is live, so stick with this live blog and get ready.

There's just 45 minutes until the restock arrives in the U.K., so you'll want to bookmark the all-important retailer links. Don't worry, you don't need to go searching for them, I've got the PlayStation Direct links you need down below. So get them saved now!

Less than 30 minutes to go

PlayStations fans in the U.K., you don't have long left to wait as the 30th Anniversary Collection restock begins in less than 30 minutes. Remember, you'll need PlayStation Plus to partake in this stock drop, so ensure your PSN account is set up now. The last thing you want during the restock is to be trying to sort out a PS+ subscription.

There's less than 10 minutes until the restock begins, so head over to PlayStation Direct right now using the links below, and get ready to check out as fast as possible.

Be sure you've signed into your account ahead of the drop at 10 am BST as well, every second will count during the restock and you don't want to be wasting precious time trying to remember your password or complete two-factor authentication steps.

30th Anniversary restock is live NOW!

It's go time, the restock has begun early. I've just been able to check out with the DualSense controller, so head over to PlayStation Direct and secure yours NOW!

All items are IN STOCK at PlayStation Direct UK

There's no time to waste as the PS5 Slim, DualSense and PlayStation Portal have all been restocked at PlayStation Direct UK. Sony dropped a little early with the restock starting at around 9:56 am BST, but as of now, I'm still seeing stock on all three items, but they might not stick around long so get your order locked in as soon as possible.

There seem to be plenty of stock to go around

Either the interest in the 30th Anniversary Collection has sharply dropped since last year, or there's more stock than Sony suggested, because 15 minutes after the items went live, and I'm still seeing them all in stock. No complaints here, of course, but last time the Collection was made available to order, everything sold out in mere minutes.

It's been 30 minutes since the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection restock started on PlayStation Direct UK, and to my surprise, all three items remain available. This is obviously great news for anybody looking to pick up some retro-themed PS5 hardware, or nostalgia-infused accessory. Lets hope we see similar when the US restocks the DualSense controller later today!

An hour later, and nothing new to report (in a good way!)

Well, I can't say that I saw this coming, but more than an hour after the restock began in the UK, and all three restocked items are still available. Sony has briefed quantities would be "very limited," but it appears there is more stock to go around than expected.

After months of stressful restocks for items like Switch 2 and the 30th Anniversary Collection's original drop, it does make a nice change of pace, but still, if you want one of these item,s I'd recommend securing them now just in case stock is thinning out.

Attention turns to the US

With PlayStation UK having restocked, and there seemingly being a lot more units available than expected, now we can turn our attention to the US restock of the 30th Anniversary DualSense controller in just a matter of hours, at 7 am PT to be exact.

The same rules apply, so you'll need a PlayStation Plus membership to buy, and the restock will be happening over on PlayStation Direct. Here's hoping we see a similar level of stock in the US, but I'm sticking around to bring you the latest updates.

Everything still in stock at PlayStation Direct UK

I've quickly checked in on PlayStation Direct UK, and I'm still seeing everything in stock including the PS5 Slim Bundle, which I assumed would be the first to go.

UK gamers who have arrived to this restock late, the good news is you haven't missed the boat, so long as you have a PlayStation Plus account, you score this limited-edition items right now. At this point, I'm not even sure the "limited-edition" tag applies!

1 hour warning for US restock

Okay, so we're now less than 60 minutes away from the PlayStation Direct US restock. Could we see more items available than just the LE DualSense? I wouldn't bet on it, but I'll be keeping a close eye on all the 30th Anniversary items just in case.

Remember, you'll need PlayStation Plus for this restock, so if you haven't got a membership yet, now is the time to upgrade your PSN account so you can get involved in this restock.

20 minutes until US restock goes live

We're just 20 minutes from the restock beginning on PlayStation Direct US. But one tidbit to note is that in the UK, while the scheduled start time was 10 am BST, stock was actually available from around 9:56 am (I was able to check out with a controller by 9:59 am), so I advise getting onto the PS Direct listing page now, as the stock could go live a little early, and you don't want to miss the drop if this one has less availability.

Waiting room live at PS Direct US

Looks like the restock is about to kick off, as PlayStation Direct US has now created a virtual waiting room to manage the flow of traffic to its website. Head over there now and get your spot, as you don't want to miss the chance to pick up a stunning retro-themed DualSense controller! Remember, this could be the last restock of the Collection!

I'm in the queue, but not moving yet, which suggests the restock hasn't started yet, keep waiting though as the yellow bar is sure to move soon....

And just as I'm ready to post this, my bar has started moving, and I've got a "6 minute" wait time, the restock has clearly begun!

Don't delay, PlayStation Direct now has stock of the 30th Anniversary Edition DualSense controller in stock!

You'll need to sign in to an active PlayStation Plus account to buy, and it costs $79. Remember, this is technically a pre-order with the controller set to release on September 9, so you'll have to wait a couple of months before you receive the pad.

I'm still seeing DualSense stock at PS Direct

It looks like the US restock is largely mirroring the one we saw earlier today in the UK, with plenty of stock to go around. While it's only the DualSense dropping in the US, it's now been around 45 minutes since the restock begin and I'm still able to get the "Add to cart" button to appear, so this is great news for anybody looking to buy a LE pad.

Everybody gets a restock!

So now that both the US and UK restock has arrived, I'm very surprised, but super pleased, to report that everything is currently in stock that was scheduled to drop today. You'll need a PlayStation Plus membership, but otherwise you can pick up the 30th Anniversary Collection items down below without any issues or virtual queuing.

Restock still ongoing...

Call it a miracle, but as of 1:45pm (ET), Sony still has stock of its DualSense Controller (30th Anniversary Edition). As we said earlier, the U.S. is only getting a restock of the controller, but it's wild that there's still stock midway into the day. DualSense Controller now sold out (US)...

Well, folks. It was bound to happen. The DualSense Controller (30th Anniversary Edition) has sold out here in States. Is there a chance it could return later today? Perhaps. But for now it seems that all stock is gone.

Second restock on the way

Good morning! Welcome back to TG's PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection restock live blog. Today (July 23) will see a second restock, and this time, you won't need PlayStation Plus to pick up a limited-edition item.

PlayStation Direct UK will be restocking at 10 am BST, that's in 20 minutes, but there's really no need, as all three items are still available, so really the only thing that will change is you won't need a PlayStation Plus membership to buy very shortly.

PlayStation Direct UK stock now open to all

The PlayStation Plus requirement has been dropped for folks in the UK, and now anybody can pick up a LE PS5 Slim, PlayStation Portal or DualSense controller. This could be one of the last chances to pick up an item from the 30th Anniversary Collection (I'd be surprised to see future restocks), so make your choice quickly!

Plenty of stock to go around in the UK

Even with the restock now being open to all, and the PlayStation Plus requirement being dropped, the three 30th Anniversary Collection items available at PlayStation Direct UK have no sold out. Sony advertised this restock as "limited" but it seems perhaps they had more stock than expected, as you can take your pick below.

PlayStation Direct US restock in 20 minutes!

After selling out of its supply of DualSense Controllers (30th Anniversary Edition) during the first PlayStation Plus-exclusive restock, PlayStation Direct US should have more stock of the limited edition PS5 pad at 7 a.m. PT. So, use the link below and get ready to go as whatever remaining stock appears could get snapped up very fast.

PlayStation Direct US opens a virtual queue

And so it begins (again), PlayStation Direct US has opened the virtual queue, and is now slowly letting shoppers onto the site to pick up a DualSense Controller (30th Anniversary Edition).

I managed to get to the front in just a matter of minutes, but I can't see any signs of stock. Furiously refreshing and will update if that little "add to cart" button appears!

PlayStation Direct has RESTOCKED!!!

It took a few moments of refreshing, but I'm now seeing the DualSense Controller (30th Anniversary Edition) in stock at PlayStation Direct US. Remember, you don't need a PlayStation Plus membership for this restock, so get yours secured now.

That didn't last long...

Monday's restock did sell out in the end, but it took several hours, that's certainly not the case today. Within around 20 minutes of PlayStation Direct US restocking the PS1-themed DualSense controller, it appears to be all sold out.

I'm not seeing the dreaded "Currently Unavailable" notification, and several minutes of refreshing haven't turned up any different results. There is a possibility another wave of stock could appear, but I wouldn't bet on it. At present, it looks like it's all sold out.

US stock sold out, but UK holding strong

PlayStation Direct has restocked the 30th Anniversary Edition items in both the U.S. and U.K. today, and while the drop proved to be short-lived in the U.S., selling out in less than 20 minutes, in the U.K., all three restocked items are still available.

Remember, you don't need a PlayStation Plus account to buy these items, just a valid PSN account. While the stock has stuck around longer than expected, I still wouldn't recommend waiting around because I suspect (but can't confirm) once these limited-edition accessories and hardware are gone, they'll be really gone this time.
