Sony has officially unveiled PS VR2, its next-generation virtual reality headset for PS5. Featuring a 4K OLED screen with a 110-degree field of view, capable of frame rates between 90 and 120fps, it should offer a VR experience on par with premium PC headsets.
Much like the Quest 2, there’s no need for an external camera either. The new PlayStation VR2 Sense controller is tracked through cameras integrated into the headset itself. The headset also comes packed with sensory feedback, eye tracking, and 3D audio. Much like the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback, the sensory feedback will offer subtle vibrations to immerse you in the experience.
One of the most off-putting things about PSVR’s original form was how much of a pain it was to connect up. Thankfully, PS VR2 comes with a single cable setup for ease of use.

Sony has also announced the first game coming to the VR set: Horizon Call of the Mountain from Guerrilla, developer of Horizon Forbidden West, and Firesprite, developer of Playroom VR.

“The story of Horizon Call of the Mountain will be told through the eyes of an entirely new character,” Guerilla said in a statement on Twitter. “We’ll meet Aloy, as well as returning and new faces along the way, and we can’t wait for you to meet the protagonist of this adventure soon.”
