Prue Leith unveils dramatic blue hair transformation ahead of Christmas Bake Off

With December just around the corner, Bake Off fans can start to get hyped for the festive.

Matt Lucas, who made his Bake Off debut during this year's series, will return alongside Extra Slice's Tom Allen standing in for Noel Fielding.

And judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith - rocking a bold new weave - are making their return as well.

A promo shot shows the veteran cook and broadcaster, 80, with her voluminous head of hair dyed an electric blue.

Channel 4 is set to air two Christmas episodes, over which eight past contestants will battle it out for the title of Christmas champion.

Rosie Brandreth-Poynter, Jamie Finn, Ruby Bhogal and James Hillery will compete in the first, while the second will welcome Helena Garcia, Henry Bird, Nancy Birtwhistle and Rahul Mandal back to the tent.

Tuesday's series 11 finale saw Peter Sawkins edge out Laura Adlington and Dave Friday for first place, earning a much-coveted Hollywood handshake.

In a unique year for television, Channel 4 bosses managed to pull of the show in Covid-safe way.

It began filming and wrapped within just 42 days, all in a "biosecure bubble."

And uni student Peter, who's putting him baking ambitions on the backburner until he's completed his studies, told that it was really tough to keep his victory to himself upon returning to Scotland.

"After winning the trophy I had to smuggle it on the plane back to Edinburgh," he laughed, "I was a bit stressed when we went through the scanners.

"And then it stayed on my family worktop in the kitchen hidden in a box. I can't wait to crack it out of the box and give it as much use as I possibly can.

"Filming in the bubble was certainly a unique experience inside and outside the tent.

"It was a very intense environment to be in but it was hugely fun whilst filming and also in our down time.

"You saw Paul on his moped, the crew doing Yoga or playing rounders or tennis. It was like a grown ups holiday camp for seven weeks."
