Established four years ago, Proximity festival was designed to provide a one-on-one performance platform for art in Australia. Each year, artists take over a new building and repurpose it for their own agenda.
This year the festival takes place inside the Art Gallery of Western Australia,with performances, tours, discussions and workshops within the usual schedule of the gallery.
The festival’s curators, Sarah Rowbottam and Kelli Mccluskey, bring 12 emerging and established artists from Australia and the United Kingdom – who represent a mix of gender, experience and medium – in a program that aims to engage directly with its audience.
