'Proved wrong' - Ryan Yates praised after 50th Nottingham Forest appearance

Ryan Yates has been praised by Nottingham Forest fans after making his 50th appearance for the club.

The homegrown midfielder reached the milestone during Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Rotherham United and almost marked it with a goal when his header hit the bar.

Yates has divided opinion among Reds fans, with some unconvinced by the 23-year-old.

But he played regularly under Forest’s previous two managers, Martin O’Neill and Sabri Lamouchi, and seems to be in plans of new boss Chris Hughton, who recently said: "I do like him. I've seen Ryan in the last couple of seasons from the times when I've watched games.

"He's a particular type of player, as is anyone that will play in that midfield role. He has qualities.

"It's about getting the right balance in there. He's a committed player, a whole-hearted player.”

Here’s what Forest fans had to say on Twitter after Yates reach a half-century of appearances for the Reds.

@ScrumpyNffc: Played very well Ryan but head the ball downwards next time. You will score plenty if you do.

James Laurence: Was one of his critics of late but totally been proved wrong, hope it continues.

Kirk Adamson: Well done, thoroughly deserved.

@El_pond: Brilliant player and hopefully can go on to make many many more.

@traceymillar64: Well done @RyanYates97, thoroughly deserved!!!

@TrixieKing27: Well done young man.

@rollojase: HE’S ONE OF OWN @RyanYates97....... HE’S ONE OF OWN.

@elinspain: 50 up. Well done Ryan.
